Background: The impact of the pediatric inflammatory multisystem syndrome temporally associated with SARS-CoV-2 (PIMS-TS) in low- and middle-income countries remains poorly understood. Our aim was to understand the characteristics and outcomes of PIMS-TS in Argentina.
Methods: This observational, prospective, and retrospective multicenter study enrolled patients younger than 18 years-old manifesting PIMS-TS, Kawasaki disease (KD) or Kawasaki shock syndrome (KSS) between March 2020 and May 2021.
Introduction: Central venous catheter (CVC)- related bacteremias are common in pediatric patients following surgery for complex congenital heart disease admitted to a pediatric cardiac intensive care unit (PCICU) and have a high morbidity and mortality.
Objective: To analyze the effectiveness of an interdisciplinary program for the prevention of CVC-related bacteremias in the PCICU.
Material And Methods: Quasi-experimental, before and after implementation study without a control group.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: As the COVID-19 pandemic significantly reduced the ability of medical students to travel and interact directly with combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics (Med-Peds) residency programs, medical students desiring appropriate guidance and information about Med-Peds residency training needed a national forum for information during an unprecedented virtual recruitment year.
Objective: To develop a nationally coordinated webinar series for medical students and student advisors to learn about the Med-Peds specialty for residency training to keep applicant numbers and applicant interest from significantly falling.
Methods: A national webinar series focusing on general Med-Peds information, career interests, and tailored advising was created amongst the three national Med-Peds organizations over a three-month period in Spring 2020.
Objective: To describe the results of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation in patients undergoing heart surgery and analyze the risk factors for morbidity and mortality.
Methods: Retrospective study conducted in cardiac patients under circulatory support. Outcome measures, diagnosis, surgery, Risk Adjustment for Congenital Heart Surgery (RACHS) score, implantation time, cannulation, length of support during stay, complications, survival, and follow-up were recorded.
