Application of power-law committee machine to combine five machine learning algorithms for enhanced oil recovery screening.

One of the main challenges in screening of enhanced oil recovery (EOR) techniques is the class imbalance problem, where the number of different EOR techniques is not equal. This problem hinders the generalization of the data-driven methods used to predict suitable EOR techniques for candidate reservoirs. The main purpose of this paper is to propose a novel approach to overcome the above challenge by taking advantage of the Power-Law Committee Machine (PLCM) technique optimized by Particle Swam Optimization (PSO) to combine the output of five cutting-edge machine learning methods with different types of learning algorithms.

Do Health Literacy and Awareness of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Predict the Lifestyle Choices of Arabic-Speaking Female University Students.

Background: Considering the increasing prevalence of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and its related complications-such as obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and infertility-in the Middle East, it is imperative to create sufficient public awareness about this issue. Accordingly, the potential link between PCOS awareness and health literacy level with the lifestyle choices of Arabic-speaking female university students was examined in this cross-sectional study.

Materials And Methods: This research was conducted in the Sultanate of Oman and involved 446 Arabic-speaking female university students, who completed a self-administered online questionnaire, Single Item Literacy Screener, and PCOS Awareness Tool.

Efficacy and Safety of Teprotumumab in Patients With Thyroid Eye Disease of Long Duration and Low Disease Activity.

Context: Early inflammatory thyroid eye disease (TED) can lead to symptomatic chronic disease, including disabling proptosis. Teprotumumab, an insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R) inhibitor, previously demonstrated efficacy in acute, high-inflammation TED trials.

Objective: This study evaluated short- and long-term efficacy and safety of the second-generation somatostatin receptor ligand pasireotide alone or in combination with dopamine agonist cabergoline in patients with Cushing's disease (CD).

Study Design: This is an open-label, multicenter, non-comparative, Phase II study comprising 35-week core phase and an optional extension phase. All patients started with pasireotide, and cabergoline was added if cortisol remained elevated.

The Hatchet Flap for Eyelid and Midfacial Reconstruction: Experience From 70 Cases.

Purpose: To describe surgical variations of the hatchet flap and a large series of patients in which this procedure was used for eyelid and midfacial reconstruction.

Methods: A retrospective review was performed on patients treated with a hatchet flap between March 2016 and March 2023. Patient demographics, defect characteristics, surgical techniques, and outcomes were investigated.
