Biocement is an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional cement that is produced via microbially induced calcium carbonate precipitation (MICP) and has great potential to mitigate the environmental harms of cement and concrete use. Current production requires on-site bacterial cultivation and the application of live culture to target materials, lacking the convenience of stable formulas that enable broad adoption and application by nonscientific professionals. Here, we report the development of a dry shelf-stable formulation of , the model organism for biocement production.

CTLA-4, PD-1, and LAG3 are three co-inhibitory receptors, which can be expressed by subsets of T cells and which play a role in the regulation of adaptive immune responses. Blocking these immune checkpoints receptors (or their ligands) with antagonistic antibodies can lead to tumor regressions and lasting remissions in some patients with cancer.

However, the recently published Nutrient Requirements of Dairy Cattle from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM, 2021) was not released at that time. Thus, the current study evaluated NASEM using the same dataset.

However, there has been a predominant focus on fitness parameters as toxic endpoints and on crustaceans as test organisms, while effects at the sub-organismal level and on other benthic taxa have received less attention. Also, interactions between sediment contamination and natural stressors such as oxygen are often neglected in traditional toxicity tests.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThis study was conducted to determine if the decreased MP supply predicted by the NRC (2001) when canola meal (CM) substitutes soybean meal (SBM) was supported by direct measurement of net portal absorption of AA or energy-yielding nutrients, plus the effect of the type of forage in CM-based rations. Nine Holstein cows with indwelling catheters in splanchnic blood vessels, 8 also with a ruminal cannula, were used to examine the effects of protein source in corn silage-based diets, comparing SBM versus CM, and forage source in CM-based diets, comparing corn versus grass silage. The cows were allocated to a triple 3 × 3 Latin square design with 21-d periods.
