Background: Masses and cysts in the heart are well-known entities, but their low prevalence and non-specific symptoms makes the diagnosis difficult. We aimed to characterize the features of these entities in our environment.

Methods: We carried out a search of patients who underwent surgery for tumors and cysts in the heart between 2002 and 2022 in the registry of the Department of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery of Clínica Universidad de Navarra (Pamplona, Spain).

Objective: To establish the influence of overweight/obesity, medicated hypothyroidism, and medicated non-syndromic hypogrowth on maxillary and mandibular growth.

Materials And Methods: The relation between 10 craniofacial anthropometric measurements and hypothyroidism (n = 216), overweight/obesity (n = 108), and non-syndromic hypogrowth (n = 250) were evaluated in patients aged 1-19 years and a control group of healthy patients (n = 587). A subgroup analysis was performed at the peak growth in all groups.

Pathogenic sequence changes in mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) are one of the most common causes of genetic hearing loss. We report an infant with palmoplantar hyperkeratosis, extrapalmoplantar cutaneous features and mitochondrial sensorineural hearing loss caused by the previously reported pathogenic NC_012920:m.7445A > G sequence change in the mitochondrial gene COX1 (COX1, MT-CO1).

Article Synopsis
  • Secondary amines are crucial in various industries, but most synthesis methods rely on fossil fuels, leading to economic and environmental issues.
  • The heterogeneously catalyzed reductive amination using lignin-derived phenolics offers an eco-friendly alternative, with palladium and rhodium catalysts showing promise in producing secondary amines.
  • This dataset provides experimental measurements using Pd/C and Rh/C as catalysts, along with detailed characterization techniques to understand the relationship between catalyst properties and reaction performance.
