Background & Aims: Epithelial muscarinic acetylcholine receptor subtype 3 (M3R) signaling modulates intestinal stem and progenitor cell function, yet its impact on colonic homeostasis remains unclear. Hence, this study explores sex-specific effects of epithelial genetic M3R ablation and muscarinic receptor agonism on murine colonic Lgr5-EGFP+ progenitor cells and epithelial homeostasis.
Methods: Genetic ablation of M3R was achieved using Vil-Cre x M3R fl/fl mice.
Space habitation provides unique challenges in built environments isolated from Earth. We produced a 3D map of the microbes and metabolites throughout the United States Orbital Segment (USOS) of the International Space Station (ISS) with 803 samples collected during space flight, including controls. We find that the use of each of the nine sampled modules within the ISS strongly drives the microbiology and chemistry of the habitat.

Recurrence happens often with metastasis, for which cancer cells must adapt to isolation stress to successfully colonize distant organs. While the fibronectin-integrin axis has been implicated in this adaptation, its regulatory mechanisms require further elaboration.
