Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to see if eating 2 oz of raw almonds daily could lower HbA1c levels in adults with high readings over a period of 16 weeks.
  • Although participants consuming almonds gained slightly more daily calories, there was no significant difference in body weight or HbA1c levels between the almond group and the control group.
  • However, the almond group showed improvements in diet quality and maintained their enjoyment of almonds over time, while showing changes in certain blood parameters, indicating they followed the dietary plan effectively.

Purpose: The human cornea is essential for vision, providing structural integrity and refractive power to the eye. Recent advancements have deepened our understanding of the corneal molecular composition, yet the role of intrinsically disordered proteins within the cornea is unexplored.

Methods: We analyzed 3,250 corneal proteins identified by Dyrlund et al, focusing on the epithelium, stroma, and endothelium layers.

Background: Appetitive sensations (AS) are signals that guide eating behaviors. Marked short-term inter-individual variability in AS has been reported but the long-term stability of individual ratings and their dietary implications are not well characterized.

Objectives: This study explored the stability of inter-individual ratings of hunger, fullness and thirst for 17 weeks; determined the relationships between these sensations, eating patterns and energy intake (EI); as well as the associations between ratings and selected individual characteristics (age, gender, BMI).
