CLINICAL AND FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS AFTER TOTAL KNEE ARTHROPLASTY.

Unlabelled: Osteoarthritis is a major cause of disability worldwide.

Objective: To evaluate the effects of Total Knee Arthroplasty of subjects with knee osteoarthritis by the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC ).

Methods: Prospective, non-randomized study with convenience sampling.

There is emerging evidence that early uterine development in humans is an important determinant of conditions such as ontogenetic progesterone resistance, menstrual preconditioning, defective deep placentation and pre-eclampsia in young adolescents. A key observation is the relative infrequency of neonatal uterine bleeding and hormone withdrawal at birth. The origin of the uterus from the fusion of the two paramesonephric, or Müllerian, ducts was described almost 200 years ago.

Primary vaginal leiomyosarcoma: A case report with complete morphological, immunohistochemical and ultrastructural study.

Objective: Primary vaginal leiomyosarcomas (LMS) are rare, easily recurrent tumours with an unknown etiology; the prognosis is poor and there is no consensus guideline on their management.

Case Report: A nodular, 25 × 23 x 28 mm-mass, infiltrating the urethra, was found in a 58-year-old woman. A biopsy showed a LMS of the vagina that was positive for vimentin, alpha-smooth muscle actin, caldesmon, desmin, p16 and p53.

Lateral Tenodesis Associated With an Intra-articular Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction Without Proximal Disinsertion of Iliotibial Band.

The persistence of rotational instability after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction has been studied by several authors in the past 10 years. Although ACL lesions are currently treated arthroscopically, in the recent past, they were treated with isolated extra-articular tenodesis alone. Understanding the role and importance of anterolateral structures in the pathophysiology of rotational knee instability has increased since the rediscovery of the anterolateral ligament, and combined intra- and extra-articular reconstructions have been increasingly investigated.

A Highly Asymmetric Gold(III) η -Allyl Complex.

A highly asymmetric Au η -allyl complex has been generated by treating Au(η -allyl)Br(tpy) (tpy=2-(p-tolyl)pyridine) with AgNTf . The resulting η -allyl complex has been characterized by NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. DFT calculations and variable temperature H NMR suggest that the allyl ligand is highly fluxional.
