Digital imaging combined with picture archiving and communication system (PACS) access allows detailed image retrieval and magnification. Calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate (CPPD) crystals preferentially deposit in fibrocartilages, the cartilage of the acromioclavicular (AC) joint being one such structure. We sought to determine if examination of the AC joints on magnified PACS imaging of chest films would be useful in identifying chondrocalcinosis (CC).

Design: A retrospective chart review was conducted on all young men (55 years) and women (65 years) admitted to the hospital for MIs within a 2-year period (n = 232). A history of cardiovascular risk factors and 1-year outcomes were obtained.
Examined the effects of a treatment program of patient decision making and self-management upon the self-concept, locus of control and behavioral adjustment of psychiatric patients. It was hypothesized that patients exposed to the experimental treatment would reveal significantly higher levels of self-concept, lower levels of external control and more acceptable behavioral adjustment than patients who did not receive such treatment. Of the three dependent variables, only behavioral adjustment revealed significant changes after treatment.
