The identity of Celastrina species in eastern Canada is reviewed based on larval host plants, phenology, adult phenotypes, mtDNA barcodes and re-assessment of published data. The status of the Cherry Gall Azure (Celastrina serotina Pavulaan & Wright) as a distinct species in Canada is not supported by any dataset, and is removed from the Canadian fauna. Previous records of this taxon are re-identified as Celastrina lucia (Kirby) and Celastrina neglecta (Edwards).

Testosterone, and to a lesser degree methandrostenolone, was shown to influence cardiac growth in immature male rats by affecting protein synthesis and degradation. The nature of cardiac responses to androgen appear to depend on the prevailing experimental conditions. Previously, low stepwise infusions of cortisol in resting adrenalectomized dogs (plateaux less than or equal to 6 micrograms/dL) were shown to reduce ACTH secretion only after 20 min. In the present study, large, steep-sloped cortisol signals were used to try to evoke faster feedback. Adrenalectomized male mongrel dogs were maintained on exogenous steroids until 48 h before the experiment.

Anionic contaminants are first removed from deproteinzed plasma by anionic exchange resins (treated plasma).
