Proton craniospinal irradiation (pCSI) has emerged as a promising life-prolonging intervention for LM patients, but the response to this treatment varies. Peri-implantitis is a biofilm-mediated inflammatory condition associated with progressive loss of supporting tissue and poses a significant challenge to clinicians worldwide. Because limited efficacy is associated with nonsurgical therapy, surgical intervention is often required to manage this disease. This article focuses on operator factors when treating peri-implantitis and presents a stepwise approach to eight essential keys for successful regenerative/reparative treatment of peri-implantitis defects.

Health-Related Quality of Life for Persons Treated or Monitored for Anal High-Grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesions (AMC-A01).

Purpose: The Anal Cancer/High-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions Outcomes Research (ANCHOR) trial demonstrated that treating precancerous anal HSIL reduces the incidence of anal cancer by 57% in people with HIV. It remains unclear how HSIL treatment or monitoring without treatment affects patient-reported health-related quality of life (HRQoL). We evaluated differences in HRQoL for individuals who were randomly assigned to active monitoring (AM) or treatment for anal HSIL.

FLT1 and other candidate fetal haemoglobin modifying loci in sickle cell disease in African ancestries.

Known fetal haemoglobin (HbF)-modulating loci explain 10-24% variation of HbF level in Africans with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), compared to 50% among Europeans. Here, we report fourteen candidate loci from a genome-wide association study (GWAS) of HbF level in patients with SCD from Cameroon, Tanzania, and the United States of America. We present results of cell-based experiments for FLT1 candidate, demonstrating expression in early haematopoiesis and a possible involvement in hypoxia associated HbF induction.

Treatment Options for the Management of the Postextraction Socket: Report From the First Giuseppe Cardaropoli Foundation Consensus Conference.

Aim: Different approaches have been proposed for implant placement following tooth extraction. A Consensus conference was organised to provide expert-based recommendations for the treatment of the postextraction site in the aesthetic zone in conjunction with implant therapy.

Methods: A panel of eight experts with a documented longstanding clinical and research experience in the field of implant therapy in the aesthetic zone were invited to participate in a structured survey.
