Advanced Chronic Renal Disease (CKD) is closely associated with a pro-inflammatory condition, with an increase in triglyceride-rich lipoproteins and decrease in HDL level. HDL contains antioxidant enzymes such as paraoxonase (PON), whose activity is diminished in CKD.
