Post mortem cadaveric and imaging mapping analysis of the influence of cochlear implants on cMRI assessment regarding implant positioning and artifact formation.

Objectives: In times of an aging society and considering the escalating health economic costs, the indications for imaging, particularly magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), must be carefully considered and strictly adhered to. This cadaver study aims to examine the influence of cochlear implant (CI) on the assessment of intracranial structures, artifact formation, and size in cranial MRI (cMRI). Furthermore, it seeks to evaluate the potential limitations in the interpretability and diagnostic value of cMRI in CI patients.

Automated Insulin Delivery in Older Adults with Type 1 Diabetes.

Background: Older adults with type 1 diabetes are at risk for serious hypoglycemia. Automated insulin delivery can reduce risk but has not been sufficiently evaluated in this population.

Methods: We conducted a multicenter, randomized crossover trial in adults older than or equal to 65 years of age with type 1 diabetes.

Response of South Asia PM pollution to ammonia emission changes and associated impacts on human health.

Countries in South Asia are suffering severe PM pollution with rapid economic development, impacting human health and the environment. Whilst much attention has been given to understanding the contribution of primary emissions, the contribution of agriculture to PM concentrations, especially from agricultural ammonia (NH) emissions, remains less explored. Using an advanced regional atmospheric chemistry and transport modelling system (WRF-EMEP) with a new estimate of anthropogenic NH emissions inputs, we estimate the influence of agricultural NH emissions on surface PM in South Asia and evaluate the health impacts and the economic losses attributable to PM in 2018.

The influence of electrode array design, scalar dislocation and insertion technique on postoperative vertigo in CI surgery - a prospective study.

Objectives: This study aimed to examine the effect of electrode array design, insertion angle, scalar position, and insertion technique on the occurrence of postoperative subjective vertigo following cochlear implant (CI) surgery using questionnaires in conjunction with objective vestibular functional measurements.

Materials And Methods: We prospectively evaluated subjective vertigo using the Dizziness Handicap Inventory (DHI). Additionally, we performed videonystagmography, video head-impulse tests, and vestibular-evoked myogenic potentials to assess the objective vestibular function preoperatively, at four weeks and 12 months after CI.

[Speech development test for 2-year-olds (2;0-2;11 years)-evaluation of multicentric data of children after bilateral cochlear implant treatment : A retrospective longitudinal study].

Background: Age-appropriate speech development is a primary aim of the rehabilitation of children treated with cochlear implants (CI). Various assessment tools are available, including the speech development test for 2‑year-olds (SETK-2). All tests are normalized to normal-hearing children; additionally, results are evaluated according to age and the duration of CI (hearing age).
