This risk is additionally increased after transplantation by secondary polycythemia. The paper investigates the rheological properties of the blood of 20 patients affected by secondary polycythemia after kidney transplantation, 10 patients without polycythemia after kidney transplantation and 19 test persons.

In patients undergoing dialysis and patients who underwent a transplantation of a kidney cardiovascular risk factors increase the lethality to 50%. A secondary polyglobulia (Pg) after transplantation enhances the risks of thromboembolism. In 180 patients who underwent a transplantation we saw in 11% a polyglobulia with 50% of thromboembolic complications.
