Synchronous bilateral testicular cancer with discordant histopathology occurring in a 20-year-old patient: A case report and review of the literature.

Introduction: Bilateral testicular tumors are very rare, accounting for 1%-5% of all testicular germ-cell tumors (TGCTs). The vast majority of primary bilateral TGCTs are metachronous, with synchronous tumors comprising approximately 0.5%-1% of all cases.

Myositis ossificans in children: a review.

The formation of lamellar bone in the soft tissues, where bone normally does not exist, is called myositis ossificans. However, it would be more accurate to describe as myositis ossificans the involvement of skeletal muscles and as ectopic or heterotopic ossification the involvement of soft tissues in general. The lesion is subdivided in genetic and non-genetic or acquired types.

Semapimod a new pretreatment modality of acute intestinal ischemia-reperfusion syndrome: experimental study in rabbits.

Aim: Semapimod is an experimental drug that strongly inhibits macrophages and stimulates the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of semapimod on experimentally-induced acute intestinal ischemia-reperfusion syndrome in rabbits.

Methods: The experimental protocol included 16 adult male White New Zealand rabbits divided into two equal groups, A and B.

Malignant Leydig-cell tumor of the testis diagnosed by fine-needle aspiration using ThinPrep technique.

Leydig cell tumors (LCT) are rare sex cord-stromal tumors that account for 2-3% of all testicular tumors. Approximately 10% of LCTs shows evidence of malignant behavior. We present a case of LCT with severe atypia diagnosed by fine-needle aspiration (FNA) in a 49-year-old man who presented with gynecomastia and right testis enlargement.

AMACR is associated with advanced pathologic risk factors in sporadic colorectal adenomas.

Aim: To analyze alpha-methylacyl CoA racemase (AMACR) expression in relation to various dysplasia phenotypes and clinicopathological parameters of sporadic colorectal adenomas.

Methods: Fifty-five cases of sporadic colorectal adenomas were categorized according to the Vienna classification for Gastrointestinal Neoplasia. These corresponded to a total of 98 different intra-lesion microscopic fields that were further independently assigned a histological grade based on the old nomenclature (mild, moderate, severe dyplasia and carcinoma in situ).
