Staphylococcus warneri is a gram-positive mesophilic bacterium, resilient to extreme environmental conditions. To unravel its Osmotic Tolerance Response (OTR), we conducted proteomic and metabolomic analyses under drought (PEG) and salt (NaCl) stresses. Our findings revealed 1340 differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) across all treatments.

Atherosclerosis, a major cause of cardiovascular disease (CVD), involves plaque buildup in arteries driven by inflammation, endothelial dysfunction, and lipid metabolism disturbances. Current therapies aim to reduce cholesterol through statins and proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) inhibitors, prevent blood clots with antiplatelet drugs like aspirin, and control inflammation, alongside lifestyle modifications. However, these approaches often fall short due to patient non-compliance and residual risks.

Supraphysiological androgen (SPA) treatment can paradoxically restrict growth of castration-resistant prostate cancer with high androgen receptor (AR) activity, which is the basis for use of Bipolar Androgen Therapy (BAT) for patients with this disease. While androgens are widely appreciated to enhance anabolic metabolism, how SPA-mediated metabolic changes alter prostate cancer progression and therapy response is unknown. Here, we report that SPA markedly increased intracellular and secreted polyamines in prostate cancer models.

Aims: Hyperammonaemia (HA) is a metabolic disorder characterized by increased ammonia levels in the blood and is associated with severe neurological impairments. Some previous findings have shown the involvement of the nitric oxide pathway in HA-induced neurological impairments. The current study explored the impact of tadalafil on neurological impairments induced by HA in a zebrafish larval model due to its reported indirect interactions with the nitric oxide pathway.

Due to people's environmental awareness and the continuous improvement of the living environment requirements, the pollution problem of fine particles has attracted widespread attention and great importance. Therefore, the development of new green and environmentally friendly air filtration materials with high efficiency and low resistance is ongoing. In this work, eco-friendly zein/ethylcellulose blende nanofiber membranes with different fiber morphologies, diameter sizes, and hydrophobicity are prepared by electrospinning technology, and their performance in the field of air filtration and purification is investigated, to make them highly efficient for the adsorption of small pollutants of various polarities.
