Fluorescence Analysis of Antibacterial Activity of ZnO/TiO Electrospun Nanofibers: A Molecular Approach to Reveals the Insights of Physiochemical Interactions of Materials with Bacteria.

Fluorescence spectroscopy employed to compute the antibacterial potential of pure ZnO and Titania (TiO) loaded ZnO (TiO: 2%, 4%, 6%, and 8%) electrospun nanofibers. The study of electrospun nanofibers followed by their structural, morphological and antibacterial properties has been revealed through fluorescence spectroscopy. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis of nanofibers calcinated at 600 °C revealed the presence of polycrystalline wurtzite hexagonal crystallographic planes of ZnO with preferred orientation along (101) direction.

Assessing and Improving the Documentation of Large-Volume Paracentesis Procedures in a Tertiary Hospital: A Quality Improvement Project.

Inconsistent documentation of large-volume paracentesis (LVP) procedures in a tertiary hospital presents risks to patient safety and procedural quality. This study aimed to improve the completeness and accuracy of LVP documentation through the implementation of a structured checklist, developed in alignment with the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) Safety Toolkit. The intervention was conducted over three Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles and involved multidisciplinary collaboration, the integration of Local Safety Standards for Invasive Procedures (LocSSIPs) into the Clinical Record System (CRS), and targeted training for staff.

Establishing Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery in a Developing Country: A Five-Year Experience at Hayatabad Medical Complex, Pakistan.

Background The adoption of minimally invasive cardiac surgery (MICS) has increased over the past 25 to 30 years, driven by advancements in technology and a growing understanding of its benefits. This study evaluates the outcomes of 144 elective MICS procedures performed between January 2019 and September 2024. Methods Patients underwent various surgical approaches, including upper mini-sternotomy, mini-thoracotomy, and sub-xiphoid access.

Short-Term Surgical Outcomes and Definitive Diagnosis in Patients With Congenital Cardiac Defects: A Single-Center Analysis.

Background With the rising number of children with congenital heart disease (CHD) reaching adulthood, surgical intervention has become a critical aspect of their long-term management. This study presents a six-year overview of early postoperative outcomes and mortality in CHD surgeries at a single center, underscoring advancements and challenges in treating this complex population. Objective As more children with CHD grow into adulthood, we are gaining critical insights from our extensive experience in performing cardiac surgery for this population.

Zinner syndrome: A mesonephric duct anomaly with renal agenesis, ipsilateral seminal vesicle cyst, and ejaculatory duct obstruction.

Anomalies of the mesonephric duct are associated with a combination of renal agenesis/dysgenesis, ejaculatory duct obstruction, and seminal vesical cyst, called Zinner syndrome. We present a case of this rare syndrome in a young male patient, who initially presented with urinary symptoms. The relevant embryology and diagnostic modalities are discussed.
