Article Synopsis
  • PI3Kδ inhibitors are used to treat B-cell malignancies, but existing options have limitations in potency, selectivity, and pharmacokinetics.
  • Researchers developed a new inhibitor by improving the structure of an existing compound, transitioning from a "three-blade propeller" to a "four-blade propeller" design.
  • The new compound shows superior effectiveness, selectivity, and stability, making it a promising candidate for treatment in various B-cell cancers, either alone or with other drugs.

Purpose: Aldesleukin, recombinant human IL2, is an effective immunotherapy for metastatic melanoma and renal cancer, with durable responses in approximately 10% of patients; however, severe side effects limit maximal dosing and thus the number of patients able to receive treatment and potential cure. NKTR-214 is a prodrug of conjugated IL2, retaining the same amino acid sequence as aldesleukin. The IL2 core is conjugated to 6 releasable polyethylene glycol (PEG) chains.

Aim: To evaluate the antifertility activity of Artemisia vulgaris leaves on female Wistar rats.

Method: The plant extract was tested for its effect on implant formation at two dose levels, 300 and 600 mg·kg⁻¹, respectively. The effective methanolic plant extract was further studied for estrogenic potency on ovariectomised immature female Wistar rats.

Small cell (neuroendocrine) carcinoma of the uterine cervix (SMCC) is a rare, highly aggressive malignant neoplasm. Both conventional and liquid-based cytology (LBC) cervical smears have low sensitivity in diagnosing SMCC, requiring immunocytochemical (ICH) confirmation. We present the first series of SMCC primarily diagnosed in cytology specimens, and ICH studies performed on the residual LBC specimens with subsequent confirmation of the diagnosis on surgical pathology specimens.
