Gene Therapy: Towards a New Era of Medicine.

Over the past years, many significant advances have been made in the field of gene therapy and shown promising results in clinical trials conducted. Gene therapy aims at modifying or replacing a defective, inefficient, or nonfunctional gene with a healthy, functional gene by administration of genome material into the cell to cure genetic diseases. Various methods have been devised to do this by using several viral and non-viral vectors which are either administered by in vivo or ex vivo technique.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) play a dual role in cancer, acting as both signaling molecules that promote tumour growth and as agents that can inhibit tumour progression through cytotoxic effects. In cancer therapy, ROS-responsive drug delivery systems take advantage of the elevated ROS levels found in tumors compared to healthy tissues. These systems are engineered to release drugs precisely in response to increased ROS levels in tumour cells, allowing targeted and controlled treatment, minimizing side effects, and enhancing therapeutic outcomes.

American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons/ASSH Clinical Practice Guideline Summary Management of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Management of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Evidence-Based Clinical Practice Guideline is based on a systematic review of published studies with regard to the diagnosis and treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome in adult patients (≥18 years of age). The scope of this guideline addresses the diagnosis and treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome and contains nine recommendations to assist orthopaedic surgeons and all qualified clinicians managing patients presenting with signs and symptoms which may be attributable to carpal tunnel syndrome based on the best current available evidence. It is also intended to serve as an information resource for professional healthcare practitioners, health services researchers, and developers of practice guidelines and recommendations.

GARRE'S OSTEOMYELITIS OF LONG BONE IN ADULT.

Garre's osteomyelitis is a rare form of chronic osteomyelitis characterized by sclerosing and periosteal reaction of the affected bone. We report a case of a 35-year-old woman who presented with left tibial pain and swelling for 18 months. She was diagnosed with Garre's osteomyelitis of the mid-shaft tibia based on radiological and histopathological findings.
