Diacylglycerol (DAG) is a relatively simple and primitive form of lipid, which does not possess a phospholipid headgroup. Being a central metabolite of the lipid metabolism network, DAGs are omnipresent in all life forms. While the role of DAG has been established in membrane and storage lipid biogenesis, it can impart crucial physiological functions including membrane shapeshifting, regulation of membrane protein activity, and transduction of cellular signalling as a lipid-based secondary messenger.

Background: Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a leading cause of acute lower respiratory infections in children <2 years of age. Prior infection in a child is usually determined by RSV antibodies; however, in young children, persisting maternal immunoglobulin G antibodies can incorrectly indicate past RSV infection. We developed and evaluated 4 immunoglobulin A (IgA) antibody enzyme immunoassays (EIAs) with the RSV F, subgroup G (Ga or Gb proteins) or RSV lysate antigens to distinguish infection induced from persisting maternal RSV antibodies.

Economic evaluation of the Liverpool heart failure virtual ward model.

Background: A virtual ward (VW) supports patients who would otherwise need hospitalisation by providing acute care, remote monitoring, investigations, and treatment at home. By March 2024 the VW programme had treated 10 950 patients across six speciality VWs, including heart failure (HF). This evaluation presents the economic assessment of the Liverpool HF VW.
