So far, India has witnessed three spells of the disease, termed the first, second, and third waves; although the first two waves were significant in terms of severity, mortality, and need for respiratory support, the third wave had no significant impact and most people recovered without being admitted to the hospital. The present study aimed to discuss the clinical demographic characteristics and in-hospital outcomes of COVID-19 patients and their comparisons between the first and second waves.

However, their potential is not fully realized due, in part, to their heterogeneity, which results in a "permeability-selectivity" trade-off for most membrane applications. Inspired by the intricate architecture and excellent homogeneity of biological membranes, bioinspired and biomimetic membranes (BBMs) aim to emulate biological membranes for practical applications.

Here, we have developed a positively-charged Arg-containing hexapeptide, SqP7, and elucidated its anti-amyloidogenic propensity on in vitro HEWL amyloid formation under acidic and neutral fibrillation conditions using computational tools and several biophysical techniques. SqP7, at a five-fold molar excess, displayed excellent amyloid inhibition capability at both pH conditions (~83 % and 72 % inhibition under acidic and neutral fibrillation conditions, respectively), and was further chosen as a coating agent on gold nanoparticles.
