Objectives: To assess the perceived health and quality of life, perceived social support, prison life, and cannabis use among a sample of inmates in Spanish prisons.

Material And Methods: We hosted a discussion with inmates in order to learn their reasons for using cannabis (phase 1). Then, a questionnaire was prepared specifically for this study (phase 2), containing indicators from the Catalan Health Survey and other items regarding patterns of cannabis use and life in prison.

Introduction: There are gaps in the available knowledge about substance use and risky practices among prison inmates witch we proposed to clarify in order to improve interventions.

Material And Method: We conducted a specifically adapted survey with 178 potential users imprisoned in the Brians 1 Prison of Barcelona. We applied a snowball sampling method, with peers as privileged access interviewers, which is particularly recommended to bring out hidden information.

Introduction And Objectives: In the last twenty years, sociological changes and actions aimed at improving the health of inmates have contributed to decrease the prevalence of infectious diseases and overdoses among prison population. Currently, however, drug addictions treatment penitentiary programs are questioned for lacking of innovation and deficiencies in coverage. In order to investigate this issue we analyzed the discourses of imprisonned people regarding drug use and drug addiction programs.
