Malignant biliary obstruction presents a significant therapeutic challenge and has serious consequences including cholangitis and death. Clinically, biliary stenting using self-expanding metallic- stent(SEMS) relieves this obstruction. Gaucher's disease (GD) is a rare autosomal recessive genetic disorder caused by mutations in the gene. Mutations in the gene lead to the deficiency of glucocerebrosidase, an enzyme that helps in the breakdown of glucosylceramide (GlcCer) into ceramide and glucose. The lack of the enzyme causes GlcCer accumulation in macrophages, resulting in various phenotypic characteristics of GD.

Sugarcane is a major industrial crop highly susceptible to parasitic weed (Striga spp.), causing a 38% reduction in cane yield due to a longer lag phase of 20-40 days, and wider spacing. Herbicides with a longer retention and slow-release nature could allow Striga seeds to germinate and be killed before attaching to the host.

Refractive Prediction Accuracy Using Intraoperative Aberrometry versus Barrett True-K Formula Following Corneal Refractive Surgery.

Purpose: To compare the refractive prediction accuracy of the Optiwave Refractive Analysis (ORA) SYSTEM with the Barrett True-K (BTK) formula in calculating intraocular lens (IOL) power in eyes that underwent cataract surgery after previous myopic photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) or laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK).

Methods: This retrospective study evaluated patients aged ≥22 years with prior myopic PRK or LASIK who underwent unilateral or bilateral cataract removal and monofocal IOL implantation using the ORA SYSTEM at 177 sites in the United States. Two datasets were analyzed: All Eyes (ie, all eligible eyes) and First Surgery Eyes (ie, each patient's first implanted eye).
