Migration of BPA from Food Packaging and Household Products on the Croatian Market.

BPA is a plasticizer for the production of polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins and is widely used in the production of household goods, including food packaging. Free BPA is known to migrate from packaging to food, and its uptake has been associated with adverse health effect, particularly the disruption of endocrine activity. The presence and migration of BPA from plastic consumer products are subject to strict regulation in the EU.

Several reasons why ketamine as a neuroplastic agent may have failed to prevent postoperative delirium: Implications for future protocols.

Ketamine exerts anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective and neuroplastic activity, therefore it may counteract the neurotoxic processes underlying postoperative delirium. However, the majority of studies in this field failed. We identified several pharmacological reasons why these studies may have failed, together with suggestions of how to remediate them.

Inherent privacy limitations of decentralized contact tracing apps.

Recently, there have been many efforts to use mobile apps as an aid in contact tracing to control the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2) (COVID-19 [coronavirus disease 2019]) pandemic. However, although many apps aim to protect individual privacy, the very nature of contact tracing must reveal some otherwise protected personal information. Digital contact tracing has endemic privacy risks that cannot be removed by technological means, and which may require legal or economic solutions.

Correlation of ultrasound microscopy and Vickers hardness measurements of human dentin and enamel - A pilot study.

Objective: To investigate if Vickers microhardness of dentin and enamel correlated with acoustic velocity c(l) or acoustic reflection from the sample's top (amplitude).

Methods: Eight transversal sections of a sound human tooth were investigated with scanning acoustic microscopy (SAM) and Vickers microhardness measurements. Longitudinal acoustic velocity c(l), amplitude and microhardness MHV were evaluated and for each c(l) test point corresponding amplitude and MHV were linearly interpolated and graphically analyzed.
