Article Synopsis
  • Spinal cord injury (SCI) disrupts normal spinal cord function, leading to various autonomic, sensory, and motor disorders, with 10 to 83 cases reported per million people each year.
  • *Traumatic SCI is caused by mechanical damage that impacts spinal cord tissue, and current treatment methods primarily involve surgery and conservative therapies, which often fall short of promoting recovery.
  • *Research is exploring the use of bioactive compounds like curcumin from turmeric, combined with different types of stem cells, to enhance neurological recovery in SCI, showing promise in experimental models.*

Article Synopsis
  • * They can become resistant to treatments like chemotherapy and immunotherapy by using specific mechanisms to evade destruction, but when activated correctly, they can also fight cancer cells effectively.
  • * The presence of macrophages in tumors is linked to poorer outcomes for patients, but they are being studied as potential targets for new cancer therapies, especially for melanoma, colon, glioma, and breast cancers.

Last year saw a breakthrough in protein structure prediction, where the AlphaFold2 method showed a substantial improvement in the modeling accuracy. Following the software release of AlphaFold2, predicted structures by AlphaFold2 for proteins in 21 species were made publicly available via the AlphaFold Database. Here, to facilitate structural analysis and application of AlphaFold2 models, we provide the infrastructure, 3D-AF-Surfer, which allows real-time structure-based search for the AlphaFold2 models.

This study presents a newfangled method and provides a new approach toward capturing-entrapping the toxic and harmful greenhouse gas CO and subsequently employing it as a useful precursor for the production of value-added calcite (CaCO) nanoparticles. All the processes are done in a single system (one-pot and in-situ processing) based on deep eutectic choline chloride-calcium chloride (Calcoline) at mild temperature of 50 °C in direct contact with air. The Calcoline eutectic mixture shows the calcite production yield of 6.

Calcium phosphates are one of the biomaterials that are used for bone regeneration. In this study, Hydroxyapatite (HAp) nanoparticles with chitosan gel filled with unrestricted somatic stem cells (USSCs) were used for healing calvarial bone in rat model. The healing effects of these injectable scaffolds with and without stem cells for bone regeneration were investigated by computed tomography (CT) analysis and pathology assays after 28 days of grafting.
