Ancient tooth enamel, and to some extent dentin and bone, contain characteristic peptides that persist for long periods of time. In particular, peptides from the enamel proteome (enamelome) have been used to reconstruct the phylogenetic relationships of fossil taxa. However, the enamelome is based on only about 10 genes, whose protein products undergo fragmentation in vivo and post mortem.

The non-polymorphic HLA-E molecule offers opportunities for new universal immunotherapeutic approaches to chronic infectious diseases. Chronic Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is driven in part by T cell dysfunction due to elevated levels of the HBV envelope (Env) protein hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg). Here we report the characterization of three genotypic variants of an HLA-E-binding HBsAg peptide, Env identified through bioinformatic predictions and verified by biochemical and cellular assays.

Background: Acute mountain sickness (AMS) is a debilitating condition that individuals may develop on ascent to high altitude. It is characterized by headache, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and fatigue with the potential to progress to fatal disease. Although the pathophysiology of AMS remains unclear, proposed mechanisms are hypothesized to be similar to migraine.

Purpose: Patients receiving treatment for solid tumours and haematological malignancies, among other acute and chronic health conditions, are highly dependent upon central venous access devices (CVADs) for administering chemotherapy and other complex therapies; thus, CVADs can meaningfully impact their health outcomes and experiences. This systematic review aimed to identify and critique patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) and patient-reported experience measure (PREM) instruments related to CVADs.
