This article details examples of ultra-complex specialty medications, including the characteristics that make them ultra complex, and strategies implemented by an integrated health-system specialty pharmacy (IHSSP) to maintain an optimal patient journey.

Summary: Before therapy initiation, ultra-complex specialty medications often require additional steps that go beyond what is required of traditional specialty treatments, such as ensuring patients have appointments scheduled and attended and coordinating medical procedures.

Background: We aimed to describe the financial implications of cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (CRS/HIPEC) in the USA.

Materials And Methods: We conducted a retrospective cost analysis of 100 CRS/HIPEC procedures to examine the impact of patient and procedural factors on hospital costs and reimbursement. A comparison of surgeons' work relative value units (wRVUs) between CRS/HIPEC and a representative sample of complex surgical oncology procedures was made to assess the physicians' compensation rate.

Promoting toddlers' self-regulation and healthy eating habits among families living in poverty: A randomized controlled trial of Recipe 4 Success.

This study examined how distinct aspects of parents' schemas of their children are related to caregiving behaviors. It included 242 families with toddlers and young children, most of whom were living in poverty (37% White, 25% Black, 19% Latine, 17% Multiracial, and 2% Asian; child age = 21-39 months; median family income = $1,555 per month). The elaboration and emotional valence of parents' schemas were coded from brief responses to open-ended questions about children's personality; observations of parents' sensitivity and learning support were assessed in structured and unstructured settings.
