Unlabelled: The nano tattoo represents a nascent technology designed to be implanted in the skin to provide continuous and reliable glucose detection for diabetics. Its potential benefits are compelling not only for its ability to prevent diabetic complications and decrease related social costs, but also for its ease of use and relative patient-user comfort. This Note aims to articulate a checklist of fundamental intellectual property, bioethical and system design issues that are appropriately considered in the pre-clinical, pre-commercialization phase of nano tattoo development.

Three- and four-part fractures are the most severe injuries in the spectrum of fractures of the proximal humerus. Despite the shortcomings of the currently available imaging techniques, fracture displacement remains an important principle in guiding management. As a result, increasing emphasis has been placed on the use of Neer's criteria in intraoperative decision making.

The purpose of the present study was to determine whether there is an optimal position for fixation of the one-bone forearm. Eight normal individuals were fitted with a hinged brace which fixed the position of pronation and supination and underwent functional hand testing using the tests of Jebsen et al. Our results indicate that a one-bone forearm in a position of 30 degrees of pronation will provide the best function for writing and working with small objects using the dominant arm.

Two cases of radiocarpal dislocation without associated intra-articular distal radius fractures are described. Treatment is dependent on the ability to reduce the dislocation and associated intercarpal instability. Satisfactory results have been reported with closed reduction and cast immobilization, although one should beware of associated carpal instability.

One hundred ten cases of the transient neurological phenomenon, cervical cord neurapraxia (CCN), are presented. The authors established a classification system for CCN, developed a new computerized measurement technique for magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, investigated the relationship of the cervical cord to the canal, and analyzed clinical, x-ray, and MR data. One hundred nine males and one female were included in the study; the average age of the participants was 21 years (range 13-33 years).
