Acute leukemia and lymphoma in pregnancy, a retrospective study from a tertiary center in Malaysia.

Introduction: Most evidence about the management of cancer and hematological malignancy in pregnancy are derived from retrospective observational studies with a small sample size. Availability of sufficiently large data has enabled evidence-based decision-making in this clinical dilemma.

Materials And Methods: Retrospective study looking into patients diagnosed with acute leukemia or lymphoma in pregnancy from 1 January 2014 to 1 January 2020 in Ampang General Hospital including newly or previously diagnosed and relapsed disease RESULTS: 37 cases of acute leukemia or lymphoma in pregnancy occurred in 34 patients.

Impact of timely monitoring before allogeneic stem cell transplantation among patients with -positive B-acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Background: With the emergence of tyrosine kinase inhibitors and the incorporation of stringent measurable residual disease (MRD) monitoring, risk stratification for -positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) patients has changed significantly. However, whether this monitoring can replace conventional risk factors in determining whether patients need allogeneic stem cell transplantation is still unclear. This study aimed to determine the impact of monitoring on the outcome of patients with -positive ALL after allogeneic stem cell transplantation.

Haemophilia care and outcome in a major haemophilia treatment centre in Malaysia.

Introduction/objective: The management of potential treatment-related complications and bleeding events in haemophilia is challenging in developing countries. Providing optimal care among these patients improve their quality of life (QOL) and life expectancy. This study explores the demographic characteristics and treatment outcome in a major haemophilia treatment centre in Malaysia.

Clinical presentations and predictors of mortality for leptospirosis - A study from suburban area in Malaysia.

Introduction: Malaysia is endemic for leptospirosis with increasing incidence recorded over the years. Perak has recorded one of the highest incidence and mortality of leptospirosis since 2004.

Methods: This is a retrospective study of confirmed leptospirosis cases in Larut, Matang and Selama (LMS) district in Perak reported in 2016.

Specificity of anti-Scl-70 antibodies in scleroderma: increased sensitivity of detection using purified DNA topoisomerase I from calf thymus.

A large scale purification of DNA topoisomerase I from calf thymus was obtained using the combinations of 62% ammonium sulfate precipitation, Biorex 70, hydroxylapatite and phenylagarose chromatography. Silver staining of the preparation separated by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis revealed 2 bands of apparent molecular weight of 70 and 60 kDa. Immunoblotting with a serum of anti-Scl-70 specificity also recognized both proteins.
