Lipocalin-2 (LCN2) is an acute-phase secretory molecule significantly upregulated in various neuroinflammatory and demyelinating conditions. Krabbe disease (KD) is a neurodegenerative lysosomal disorder caused by a galactosylceramidase (GALC) deficiency, accumulating cytotoxic psychosine in nervous systems, and subsequent neuroinflammation. Here, we show that LCN2 is highly overexpressed in GALC-deficient astrocytes.

Primary themes in intergenerational justice are a healthy environment, the perpetuation of Earth's biodiversity, and the sustainable management of the biosphere. However, the current rate of species declines globally, ecosystem collapses driven by accelerating and catastrophic global heating, and a plethora of other threats preclude the ability of habitat protection alone to prevent a cascade of amphibian and other species mass extinctions. Reproduction and advanced biotechnologies, biobanking of germplasm and somatic cells, and conservation breeding programs (RBCs) offer a transformative change in biodiversity management.

Unlabelled: Prostate cancer is the World's second most frequent malignancy, with the fifth-highest male mortality rate. In advanced prostate cancer patients, point mutations such as T877A and W741L are prevalent, imparting treatment resistance and hence promoting cancer development. The emergence of drug resistance in prostate cancer necessitates the development of suitable ligands to allow for stronger interactions with the receptors, which can inhibit cancer progression.

The objective of this study is to investigate the association between different volumes of accelerometer-measured moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) and functional fitness in older adults in a cross-sectional study (n = 242; 66 ± 5 years; 80% women). MVPA was assessed by accelerometer for 1 week. Based on the MVPA recommendations, the participants were classified as: (a) inactive (<50 min/week), (b) somewhat active (50-99 min/week), (c) moderately active (100-149 min/week), and (d) active (≥150 min/week).
