Purpose: Tau positron emission tomography (PET) has become an essential tool for the clinical diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases and the study of tau pathology in the brain. However, some tau tracers exhibit off-target binding in the basal ganglia, choroid plexus, and meninges. Recently, transmembrane protein 106B (TMEM106B) was identified to form novel amyloid filaments in the brain during aging.

Safety and efficacy of viltolarsen treatment in patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy: A retrospective study with 3-year follow-up.

Background: Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a hereditary neuromuscular disorder characterized by severe, progressive muscle wasting. Viltolarsen, a formulation consisting of exon 53-skipping antisense oligonucleotides of the dystrophin gene, has been indicated for some patients with DMD. However, reports describing the efficacy and safety of viltolarsen treatment in patients with DMD, particularly those comparing patients receiving viltolarsen with age- and time-period-matched controls, are limited.

Gender differences and mental distress during COVID-19: a cross-sectional study in Japan.

Background: To identify risk factors for mental distress and investigate whether the factors were different between men and women during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), using KOKOROBO data, which is an online platform that aims to facilitate access to mental health services.

Methods: We used baseline data on KOKOROBO users 13 years of age or older in Japan who accessed it from October 11, 2021, to April 6, 2023, excluding those receiving treatment for mental health problems. Global severity, based on the most severe measure on Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7), and Insomnia Severity Index (ISI), was analyzed using multivariable logistic regression with baseline characteristics for each gender, and for under 30 and 30 years of age or older in women.

In this study, a copper ion-based mixed solution (CBMS) containing only inorganic ions with controlled acidity was assessed as a new antibacterial and antiviral agent. We analysed the structure of the precipitates, and various deposits measuring a few micrometres were observed on the substrates.
