Quantitative association of SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater and clinically confirmed cases in different areas of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Village.

International mass gathering events, such as the Olympic and Paralympic Games, face the risk of cross-border transmission of infectious diseases. We previously reported that wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE), which has attracted attention as a COVID-19 surveillance tool, was implemented in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Village to gain a comprehensive understanding of COVID-19 incidence in the village. In the present study, we explored the quantitative association of wastewater viral load and clinically confirmed cases in various areas of the village.

MPO-ANCA-positive eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis complicated by alveolar hemorrhage treated with mepolizumab as an induction therapy: Case report.

Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA) is a systemic vasculitis preceded by bronchial asthma or allergic sinusitis and accompanied by peripheral blood eosinophilia. Immunosuppressive drugs, such as cyclophosphamide in addition to high-dose glucocorticoids, are recommended for induction of remission in patients with severe EGPA. Although mepolizumab is widely recognized as remission induction therapy in non-fatal/non-organ disabling or relapsed/refractory EGPA, its efficacy and safety in induction of remission for severe cases have been ambiguous.

Invasive mucinous adenocarcinoma harbored exon 14 skipping mutation: case report.

Background: Lung mucinous adenocarcinoma has various genetic alterations, but there are no reported cases with exon 14 skipping mutations. Multiplex genetic testing is commonly assessed in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and treatment usually comprises molecular targeted drugs. However, the efficacy of molecular targeted drugs in lung mucinous adenocarcinoma is not reported.

Modified Quick Change Method for Norepinephrine Syringe Exchange in Critically Ill Patients: A Quasi-randomized, Non-inferiority Trial.

Background: This study aimed to verify that the modified quick change (mQC) method of syringe exchange in critically ill patients receiving a continuous intravenous norepinephrine infusion is not inferior to the conventional double pumping (DP) method.

Methods: This non-blinded, quasi-randomized, non-inferiority trial was conducted in a single hospital from August 1, 2023 to February 29, 2024. Adult patients aged 18 years or older who were admitted to the emergency ward and received a continuous intravenous norepinephrine infusion were eligible for inclusion.
