[Effect of the pharmacological agent hesperadin on breast and prostate tumor cultured cells].

Aurora B, which is important for cell division control, is highly expressed in large number of cancer cell lines. Hesperadin, a prototype of a pharmacological agent, is a small molecule inhibitor of catalytic activity of Aurora B. In present work we investigate effect of Hesperadin on breast--MCF7 and prostate adenocarcinoma--PC3, cancer cell lines.

Biomechanical and structural properties of the explanted bioprosthetic valve leaflets.

Porcine bioprosthesis were treated with 0.625% glutaraldehyde and stabilized under changing pressure from 4 to 30 mmHg. Bovine pericardium and 12 biovalves (of age between 14 days and 80 months) after implantation in the human body were investigated (7 porcine PB and 5 pericardial bioprosthesis--PCB).

[Surgical treatment of primary tumors of the heart].

The article discusses the experience in surgical treatment of tumors of the heart in 34 patients in clinics of cardiosurgery at the Riga Medical Institute and the Institute of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery of Havana (Cuba). Twenty-five patients underwent operations for benign tumors of the heart (16 myxomas, 2 leiomyomas, 2 fibromas, 1 lipoma, 1 angiofibroma, 2 coelomic cysts) under extracorporeal circulation, with 4% lethality. No recurrences were encountered in follow-up periods of 5 months to 14 years.
