A novel catalyst based on bivalent copper oligopyrocatecholate was first successfully synthesized and dispersed in a polymer matrix for oxidative degradation of mercaptan in aqueous caustic solution. X-ray diffraction analysis has demonstrated that the synthesized catalyst was a crystalline phase with a minimum amorphous component. Mechanism analysis and kinetic experiments were conducted to investigate the kinetic mechanism of the reaction of isopropyl mercaptan oxidation catalyzed by copper oligopyrocatecholate dispersed in a polymer matrix.

There is opinion in the literature as to that liver trematode infections, such as opisthorchiasis, clonorchiasis, fascioliasis, and metorchiasis, can induce cancer of the liver pancreas, intestine - this all is clinically observed. The authors were the first in world practice to show the development of a hepatic blastomatous process in animals (albino rats, cats) with opisthorchiasis in 13%; cancer developed in 28 and 56% with the use of a hepatotropic carcinogen and combined (opisthorchiasis + a carcinogen) exposure, respectively. Throughout his life, a human being can easily catch these trematodes that have carcinogenic activity and these diseases concurrent with household and food carcinogens can give rise to tumors in the liver pancreas and intestine.

Experience with central lymphodissection (CLD) was analyzed in 93 patients with primary thyroid cancer (pT1-4aN0-1a). Prophylactic central lymphodissection was fulfilled in 48 patients, therapeutic CLD in 45 patients. The size and spread of the primary thyroid tumor had no difference in both groups of patients.

The influence of ethylene glycol (EG) on the kinetics of hydrolysis of N-alpha-benzoyl-L-arginine ethyl ether catalyzed by trypsin encapsulated in sodium bis-(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate (AOT)-based reverse micelles was studied at different temperatures. Ethylene glycol was shown to shift the range of the trypsin activity in the reverse micelles towards higher temperatures. Infrared spectroscopy showed a stabilizing effect of EG on the secondary structure of the protein in the system of reverse micelles.

Since extended mastectomy after Urban involves an unjustifiably high level of trauma, this method has limited application. We have evolved a procedure of video-assisted thoracoscopic parasternal lymphadenectomy (VATPL). On completion of the experimental part using cadavers to work out the rationale for extent of surgery, clinical trials started.
