The GLP-1 receptor-based agonists (GLP-1RAs) and SGLT2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) are major 21 century breakthroughs in diabetes and obesity medicine but there are important safety considerations regarding the perioperative and periprocedural management of individuals who are treated with these agents. GLP-1RAs have been linked to an increased risk of retained gastric contents and pulmonary aspiration while SGLT2i can be associated with diabetic ketoacidosis. This manuscript provides a narrative review of the available evidence for perioperative and periprocedural risks in people prescribed GLP-1RAs and SGLT2i.

Method: In a hospital-based service improvement project, 23 pregnant women (March 2022-April 2023), with Type 2 diabetes got isCGM for monitoring from 20 weeks until delivery.
Background: Virtual reality (VR) simulation training is mandatory for postgraduate year 1-2 doctors at the author's hospital trust. Despite this, a preceding quantitative study demonstrated uptake below required levels. While the educational value of VR simulation has been highlighted, little attention has been paid to participant utilisation in postgraduate curricula.

Methods: This study included patients captured by the Ontario Diabetes Database with type 2 diabetes using either the sensitive cohort definition (≥ 2 physician visits for diabetes within 1 year or ≥ 1 drug claim for diabetes or ≥ 1 hospitalization with diabetes), or the specific cohort definition (≥ 3 physician visits for diabetes within 1 year), between October 1, 2013 to September 30, 2015. Each cohort's demographic and clinical features were described using descriptive analysis.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the associations between glucocorticoid administration during chemotherapy for hematologic malignancy and hyperglycemia, new-onset diabetes, and mortality in Ontario, Canada. Hospitalization and emergency room utilization during the chemotherapy treatment period were also described.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study using health administrative data from ICES, Ontario, to assess risk of new-onset diabetes, new-onset hyperglycemia, and hyperglycemia for individuals with leukemia, non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), and Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) receiving glucocorticoids during chemotherapy between 2006 and 2016.
