A Comparative Study Between Cold Static Storage and Normothermic Ex-Situ Donor Heart Preservation in a Rat Model of Heterotopic Heart Transplantation.

Introduction: Cold static storage (CSS) and normothermic ex-situ preservation are the most widely used donor heart preservation techniques worldwide. The current study compares both CSS and normothermic ex-situ preservation methods in terms of graft performance, morphologic changes, and acute immune response in an experimental model.

Method And Materials: Twenty rats underwent heterotopic abdominal heart transplantation after 2 h of CSS (group 1; n = 10) or normothermic ex-situ perfusion (group 2; n = 10).

Status of infection prevention and control in Cameroon healthcare facilities: lessons learned from the WHO COVID-19 scorecard tool under the hierarchy of control model.

Background: Infection prevention and control (IPC) helps prevent disease transmission in healthcare facilities. There is a dearth of information on the implementation of IPC during the COVID-19 outbreak in Cameroon using the recommended WHO COVID-19 IPC scorecard tool. The present study assessed healthcare facilities' compliance to IPC by continuous assessments, with an evaluation of the tool using the hierarchy of control theory.

Assessing the state of infection prevention and control in cameroon: a cross-sectional workshop evaluation using socioecological models.

Objectives: Infection prevention and control (IPC) contributes to the reduction of healthcare associated infections. Notwithstanding the global attention with available guidelines and tools, low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) still struggle to put into place effective IPC programmes. Here, we use a socioecological approach to summarize the findings of a recent workshop on the implementation of IPC activities in Cameroon.

Diversity, geographical distribution and predictive factors of Hepatitis C virus genotypes and subtypes in Rwanda.

Background: Existing data on the prevalence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotypes and subtypes in Rwanda need to be strengthened. The aim of this study was to identify HCV genotypes and subtypes among HCV-infected patients, as well as their geographical distribution in Rwanda, and to identify the social and economic factors that could influence HCV epidemiology which would make it possible to target national preventive and management actions for infected patients.

Methods: This study included 560 patients with confirmed chronic HCV infection.
