The frontoparietal attention network plays a pivotal role during working memory (WM) maintenance, especially under high-load conditions. Nevertheless, there is ongoing debate regarding whether this network relies on supramodal or modality-specific neural signatures. In this study, we used multi-voxel pattern analysis (MVPA) to evaluate the neural representation of visual versus auditory information during WM maintenance.

Article Synopsis
  • Recombinant bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2) is a strong growth factor that helps heal bones, but high doses can lead to serious side effects, making it important to develop better biomaterials.
  • Researchers created a new slurry made from a special polymer and collagen microparticles that enhances BMP-2 signaling and turns into a gel after implantation, which is good for minimally invasive surgeries.
  • In tests on rabbits, this new material was effective at dramatically lower doses of BMP-2 (only 5 μg), which is over 100 times less than current methods, suggesting it could be useful for complex bone repair cases and patients with conditions that hinder bone healing.

The aim of this study was to examine whether oscillatory activity in the theta-band is relevant for selective visuospatial attention when there is a need for the suppression of interfering and distracting information. A variant of the Eriksen flanker task was employed with bilateral arrays: one array consisting of a target and congruent or incongruent flankers and the second array consisting of neutral distractors. The bilateral arrays were preceded either by a 100% valid spatial cue or by a neutral cue.

During the decision-making process, consumers notice, inspect, and visually scan different products. External characteristics of a product, such as design, packaging, label, and logo, have been shown to strongly influence how customers perceive, assess, and select a product. Marketers have put a lot of effort into determining the factors that trigger consumers' visual attention toward products, using traditional research methods, self-reports, or observations.

Volar fixed-angle plate fixation is a commonly used treatment modality for distal radius fractures. However, not all fracture patterns are amenable to this type of fixation strategy. In this article, we review pertinent anatomy and radiographic landmarks that together highlight key differences when considering treatment strategies for complex distal radius fractures.
