: The use of sport supplements may represent a risk factor for the use of doping in sports. To explore this putative risk, the current study examined the frequency of sport supplement use and associations between the use of sport supplements and the use of doping substances and methods in athletes. : The participants ( = 345; 56% male, 22 ± 5 years, 18-43 years) completed measures of sport supplement use, sport supplement beliefs, doping likelihood, and doping use.

Background: Proximal vessel tortuosity can hinder wiring and equipment delivery during chronic total occlusion (CTO) percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

Aims: We sought to examine the association of proximal vessel tortuosity with the short and long-term outcomes of patients undergoing CTO PCI.

Methods: We examined the association of proximal vessel tortuosity with clinical outcomes in patients who underwent CTO PCI at 50 US and non-US centers between 2012 and 2024.

Article Synopsis
  • In aortic stenosis, the heart's left ventricle thickens, but after aortic valve replacement (AVR), it begins to reverse this hypertrophy, though the details of this process are not fully understood.
  • A study involving 39 patients assessed changes in the heart's structure and function before and about 8 weeks after AVR, revealing a significant reduction in left ventricular mass primarily due to a decrease in the cellular component.
  • After AVR, while the cellular area shrank more than the extracellular space, an increased extracellular volume fraction was linked to a decline in heart function, even though the method of surgery (surgical or transcatheter) didn't affect outcomes.
