Multi-component resistance responses of melon to zucchini yellow mosaic virus.

A major resistance gene of the melon accession PI414723 to zucchini yellow mosaic virus (ZYMV) is located at the locus on chromosome 2, but the underlying defense mechanisms are poorly understood. The physiological responses and expression of selected genes at were assessed in PI414723 and in the susceptible genotype Védrantais. Viral titers and the expression of genes related to systemic acquired resistance (SAR) were evaluated in inoculated (Inoc) and non-inoculated (Non-Inoc) portions of the cotyledons at 3, 7 and 10 days after inoculation (dai) and in apical leaves at 10 dai.

Regulated and unregulated emissions from Euro VI Diesel and CNG heavy-duty vehicles.

This study compares emissions from Euro VI-D Diesel and CNG buses across temperatures from -7 °C to 35 °C. Pollutants including NOx, THC, CH, CO, NH, NO, HCHO, Solid Particle Number larger than 23 nm (SPN23) and larger than 10 nm (SPN10) were measured. Both buses complied with Euro VI-D but exceeded European Commission's proposed Euro 7 limits, notably for NOx and SPN10.

First Report of Colletotrichum boninense Causing Anthracnose on Pepper in Brazil.

Colletotrichum boninense was isolated from pepper (Capsicum annuum) fruits (cv. Amanda) with preharvest anthracnose symptoms collected in the Brazilian states of Rio Grande do Sul and São Paulo in July of 2005. In the field, the disease affected mature fruits and leaves with an incidence near 25%.
