The early detection of pregnancy and the determination of fetal numbers have economic benefits in sheep production because of the seasonal breeding patterns where missing a breeding opportunity means the loss of one productive year. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of the B6-HRP ELISA for ovine pregnancy-specific protein B (oPSPB) measurement in the detection of pregnancy and estimation of fetal numbers in different sheep breeds. BioPRYN® ELISA assay kit was used for the detection of pregnancy in the experimental animals.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess the impact of administering low doses of slow-release recombinant bovine somatotropin (bST) on hormone levels, embryo development, and fertility in dairy cows after they gave birth.
  • Cows were divided into three groups: a control group with a placebo, one group receiving a single bST injection, and another receiving two injections of bST, with various hormone levels and pregnancy outcomes monitored throughout the study.
  • Results showed that cows receiving two doses of bST had better hormonal responses, larger embryo sizes, and improved fertility compared to those receiving just one dose or a placebo, confirming the benefits of bST in enhancing reproductive success in dairy cows.

The aim of the study was to identify the most sensitive, early and accurate method for detecting pregnancy. Twenty-two female riverine buffalo that were 6.
