Guava wilt is a devastating soil-borne disease that causes significant losses in guava orchards. Management of the disease is very challenging once established in the field. Therefore, there is a need to explore for an effective, economical, and sustainable management strategies.

The fungus is known to produce diverse metabolites with antifungal activity, attracting researchers to exploit it as a bio-control agent for plant disease control.
