Macauba is an underexplored palm with significant potential for food-grade vegetable oil production. Its fruits yield two distinct sources of oil, the pulp and the kernel, each with its unique composition, emerging as a potential vegetable oil source with high competitiveness with well-established conventional oil sources. Besides the oil, macauba fruits are rich in essential nutrients, including proteins, minerals, vitamins, dietary fiber, and phytochemicals, with outstanding health benefits.

The modified organosolv process applied to sugarcane bagasse (SB-M) delivers a rich cellulosic solid phase that after enzymatic hydrolysis leads to a hydrolyzed with approximately 100 g L of glucose. At the same enzymatic hydrolysis conditions, the conventional organosolv process (SB-C) delivers a hydrolyzed with 80 g L of glucose, while the autohydrolysis process (SB-A) leads to 55 g L of glucose.

Magnetic materials based on iron oxides are extensively designed for several biomedical applications. Heterogeneous polymerization processes are powerful tools for the production of tailored micro-sized and nanosized magneto-polymeric particles. Although several polymerization processes have been adopted along the years, suspension, emulsion and miniemulsion systems deserve special attention due to its ability to produce spherical polymer particles containing magnetic nanoparticles homogeneously dispersed into the polymer thermoplastic matrices.
