Treatment of comminuted fractures of the distal radius bone by the traction-suspension technique is both simple and innocuous. The authors describe this old and satisfactory technique, slightly modified: a transmetacarpal pin is introduced and suspended to a giving set stand, and a counter-traction of 3 to 4 kg is exerted by means of a transulnar pin. After remodelling of the bone under general anaesthesia and radiographic control, the pins are sunk in plaster to be removed 6 to 8 weeks later.
