The implementation of sodium-ion batteries for renewable energy storage requires the development of sustainable electrode materials. Usually, these materials are produced through complex energy-intensive processes that are challenging to scale and involve expensive and/or toxic reagents. In this study, sustainable hard carbon materials, some doped with iron, synthesized from sucrose using a simple, fast, and cost-effective two-step eco-friendly process, are investigated as anodes for sodium-ion batteries.

Background/objectives: This PETHEMA PCR-LMA study aimed to evaluate whether mutations detected by NGS (VAF cut-off of ≥5%) correlate with NPM1, FLT3-ITD, FLT3-TKD, IDH1, and IDH2 mutations detected using conventional PCR (analytical sensitivity 3%) in a nationwide network of seven reference laboratories.

Methods: Between 2019 and 2021, 1685 adult AML patients with at least one centralized sample (NGS or PCR) at primary diagnosis or relapse/refractory episode were included.

Results: During this period, 1288 paired NGS/PCR samples (1094 at diagnosis, 103 at relapse and 88 at refractoriness) were analyzed.

Cassava is a crucial source of daily calorie intake for millions of people in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) but has an inferior protein content. Despite numerous attempts utilizing both traditional and biotechnological methods, efforts to address protein deficiency in cassava have yet to meet with much success. We aim to leverage modern biotechnologies to enhance cassava's nutritional value by creating bioengineered cassava cultivars with increased protein and starch content.

Objective: Failure to rescue (FTR), defined as mortality due to failure in responding to in-hospital complications, is an important quality indicator. This study aimed to assess incidence and predictors for FTR among centers performing fenestrated-branched endovascular aortic repair (FB-EVAR) of thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms (TAAA).

Methods: Consecutive patients treated by FB-EVAR for TAAAs between 2005 and 2022 in 27 centers of the International Multicenter Aortic Research Group were analyzed.

Non-native plant invasions and climate warming alter the microclimatic conditions that organisms experience in their habitats, with potential implications for the fitness of native faunal species, particularly ectotherms. Predictions for species conservation increasingly use microclimate data at fine spatial scales relevant to organisms, but they typically overlook the modulating effect that vegetation changes have on the microclimates available in the habitat. Here we quantify the microclimatic changes imposed by invasive trees and simultaneous warming on native habitats and assess the resulting thermal benefits and costs to a small tortoise species () from an organismal perspective and throughout its life cycle.
