What does it mean to practice self-care? How do we care effectively and compassionately for our patients while maintaining our own physical and emotional health? Nursing associations have incorporated the importance of self-care into models for good nursing practice. The perspective on self-care can change from one of self-focus to one of stewardship. Self-care from a stewardship view reflects what God is already doing to take care of us.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFFocal rheumatoid inflammation of the dura and leptomeninges was found in an 89-year-old man who was neurologically asymptomatic and had clinically inactive rheumatoid disease. Previous reports of this entity have not stressed that rheumatoid meningitis can be virtually asymptomatic and can develop in persons with apparently quiescent joint disease. The presence of vasculitis of the meningeal or cerebral vessels is associated with symptoms.

Two cases of small cell "undifferentiated" carcinoma (oat cell carcinoma) of the lung with dual neurosecretory and squamous differentiation are reported. One was treated with various regimens of chemotherapy and radiotherapy; the other was untreated at the time of biopsy. By electron microscopy, the same tumor cells showed membrane-bound, dense-core, neurosecretory-type granules and bundles of tonofibrils denoting squamous differentiation.
