Understanding the physiological processes underlying age-related cardiovascular disease (CVD) requires examination of endothelial cell (EC) mitochondrial networks, because mitochondrial function and adenosine triphosphate production are crucial in EC metabolism, and consequently influence CVD progression. Although current biochemical assays and immunofluorescence microscopy can reveal how mitochondrial function influences cellular metabolism, they cannot achieve live observation and tracking changes in mitochondrial networks through fusion and fission events. Holotomographic microscopy (HTM) has emerged as a promising technique for real-time, label-free visualization of ECs and their organelles, such as mitochondria.

Objective: To analyse the risk factors of hypoparathyroidism and hypocalcaemia after total thyroidectomy.

Methods: Clinical data of patients who underwent total thyroidectomy at a tertiary care hospital in southern part of India were collected retrospectively from January 2021 to May 2023. Multivariate logistic regression was used to analyse the risk factors associated with transient hypoparathyroidism and hypocalcaemia separately.

Green infrastructure can enhance and complement aspects of sustainable urban development, such as water management, climate change mitigation, urban heat island effects, and energy consumption in buildings. This study explores environmental performances and sustainable development benefits of green wall systems, emphasizing their role in urban settings, increasing public awareness of their benefits and leading to optimal environmental design for developers, investors, and designers. This study aims to contribute to the knowledge on the environmental performance of green wall systems, using life cycle assessment (LCA), available in different markets.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study explored the social-emotional functioning of children with typical hearing and those who are deaf or hard of hearing (D/HH) in Israel, focusing on parental reports from both Arabic and Jewish communities.
  • - A total of 242 parents participated, revealing that parents of D/HH children reported more challenges like emotional symptoms and peer problems compared to parents of typically hearing children, with notable differences between Jewish and Arab parents.
  • - The findings emphasize the social-emotional difficulties D/HH children face, especially in peer relationships, highlighting the need for culturally sensitive interventions to address these issues.

Background: Limited data on SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence in rural areas of northern Germany necessitate comprehensive cohort studies. We aimed to evaluate the seroprevalence, silent infection (SI) rates and risk factors for infections among children and adolescents in Western Pomerania from December 2020 to August 2022.

Methods: In this cross-sectional study, serum or plasma samples from children and adolescents (6 months to 17 years) were collected during routine blood draw.
