Therapeutic nucleic acids (TNAs) including antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) and small interfering RNA (siRNA) have emerged as promising treatment strategies for a wide variety of diseases, offering the potential to modulate gene expression with a high degree of specificity. These small, synthetic nucleic acid-like molecules provide unique advantages over traditional pharmacological agents, including the ability to target previously "undruggable" genes. Despite this promise, several biological barriers severely limit their clinical efficacy.

The Road to Recovery: A Two-Year Longitudinal Analysis of Mental Health Among University Students During and After the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Longitudinal research into the impact of COVID-19 on university students' mental health beyond the pandemic is lacking. This study aims to address the gap in the literature by tracking the mental health of university students over a two-year period, spanning the COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath. A two-year longitudinal study surveyed a sample of university students ( = 302) three times between May 2020 and May 2022.

Correction of Lower Lip Malposition With Fascia Lata Slings Following Anterior Mandibular Resection.

Lower lip malposition can occur after anterior mandibular resection as a result of the loss of soft tissue lip attachments. We report our technique of cranial suspension of the lower lip with fascia lata slings to improve lip position. Correction of lip ptosis results in cessation of drooling, improved oral intake, and restoration of facial aesthetics.

Growing empathy through art therapy, life story, and relationships: experiential learning in adult day services.

Introduction: Empathy is a fundamental element of high-quality healthcare, though it has been shown to be in decline among medical students and residents. Appeals have therefore been made for the development of evidence-based empathy-enhancing experiential learning and training models. Bringing Art to Life (BATL) is a service-learning program designed within experiential learning pedagogy for psychology and pre-healthcare students.

Combined Autologous Breast Reconstruction and Gynecologic Procedures: Does Timing Affect Clinical and Patient-Reported Outcomes?

Background: Patients with or at risk for breast cancer may opt for risk-reducing gynecologic surgeries, including bilateral salpingo-oophorectomies and/or total abdominal hysterectomy. The timing and safety of combining these procedures with autologous breast reconstruction (ABR) are debated. This study assesses the impact of concurrent ABR and gynecologic surgeries on clinical and patient-reported outcomes.
