Outcomes of Revision Cartilage Restoration Surgery for Failed Primary Treatment of Chondral or Osteochondral Defects of the Knee: A Systematic Review.

Background: Failure of primary cartilage restoration procedures of the knee that proceed to necessitating revision cartilage procedures represent a challenging clinical scenario with variable outcomes reported in previous literature.

Purpose: To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of clinical outcomes and adverse events after revision cartilage restoration procedures of the knee for failed primary cartilage procedures.

Splenectomy versus angioembolization for severe splenic injuries in a national trauma registry: To save, or not to save, the spleen, that is the question.

Background: The use of angioembolization as a first approach for treating severe, blunt splenic injuries has increased recently, yet evidence showing its superiority to immediate splenectomy is lacking. We compared the prognosis of angioembolization versus splenectomy in patients presenting hemodynamically unstable with high-grade, image-confirmed, blunt splenic injuries in a nationally representative dataset.

Methods: We queried the 2017-2022 Trauma Quality Improvement Program database for adults with blunt splenic injury abbreviated injury scale = 4-5, with arrival systolic blood pressure <90 mm Hg, and treated with either angioembolization or splenectomy <6 hours of arrival after a computed tomography scan.

'Walking the journey' with pregnant and birthing women from remote Australian First Nations communities: A qualitative study in the Top End of the Northern Territory.

Problem/background: Australian First Nations people experience disproportionate burdens of poor outcomes compared to non-First Nations people. Further, women living in remote communities face more barriers to care-seeking in pregnancy. Despite work being done in some remote communities, there is limited data exploring women's experiences of pregnancy care, thus a limited understanding of specific barriers and enablers to care-seeking for these women.

The Diagnostic Utility of PRAME in Primary Cutaneous Dedifferentiated and Transdifferentiated Melanomas.

Melanomas show a wide spectrum of clinical, morphological, immunohistochemical, and molecular features, which can impact treatment and prognosis. Dedifferentiated and transdifferentiated melanomas (DTM) are defined as melanomas which have lost conventional melanocytic morphologic and immunohistochemical features, showing sarcomatous morphology and/or immunohistochemical staining of other cell lineages, and as such, can be mistaken for other entities such as collision tumors and undifferentiated spindle cell tumors. In this series, we highlight the utility of preferentially expressed antigen in melanomas (PRAME) in diagnosing undifferentiated/dedifferentiated melanomas.
