Locally advanced breast cancer (LABC) is common in countries where organized screening is not effective. Although neoadjuvant therapy increases resectability, many patients undergo mastectomy and, in some cases, flaps are necessary for primary closure of the chest wall. Despite a worse prognosis, some of these women will achieve long-term survival and may require breast reconstruction.

Background And Aims: Notch1 protein plays a significant role in hepatic metabolism, as evidenced by its correlation with insulin resistance in the livers of obese individuals, making it an intriguing research target. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the impact of aerobic exercise on Notch1 pathways in the hepatic tissue of obese mice and its role in controlling hepatic metabolism.

Methods: Therefore, we conducted a cross-sectional study utilising liver biopsies from lean and obese humans, as well as an intervention study involving mice subjected to a high-fat diet.

Introduction: Despite its relevance for health outcomes, only recently gender has begun to be explored in the scientific literature, typically using a rigid binary framework. To tackle this, the Stanford Gender-related Variables for Health Research (GVHR) was developed to analyze gender from a multidimensional perspective. We aim to use our Portuguese version of the GVHR and analyze its association with health outcomes, including perceived stress.

Extreme weather events can lead to infectious disease outbreaks, especially those spread by hematophagous flies, and The Gambia is particularly vulnerable to climate change. To the best of our knowledge, no one has ever documented the relationship between climate variability and change and the distribution of the hematophagous flies belonging to the families Glossinidae, Tabanidae, and Stomoxyinae. This paper aims to study the association of temperature and humidity on the distribution of the above species and their families in The Gambia in the recent past and to provide predictions of species abundance and occurrence in the future.

Background: In recent years, the efficacy of various physical exercise programs in enhancing functional fitness among frail older adults has gained recognition. However, limited research has concurrently explored the long-term effects of exercise on brain health, stress biomarkers, and mental well-being. This study aimed to investigate the impact of two distinct chair-based exercise programs on salivary stress hormones and psychological well-being in frail older women over a 28-week period.
