Sinonasal intestinal-type adenocarcinoma in northern Portugal: a woodworker's occupational hazard.

Background: Sinonasal carcinomas (SNC) constitute about 3% of all head and neck carcinomas, squamous cell carcinoma being the most common histologic subtype. Some geographical patterns in incidence are observed, as occupational exposure to wood dust is associated with intestinal-type adenocarcinoma (ITAC).

Aims: This study aims to describe the prevalence and characteristics of sinonasal ITAC cases in a region of northern Portugal with a robust wood industry.

Laryngeal tuberculosis, the great deceiver: A series of 10 cases.

Background: Laryngeal involvement is rare in tuberculosis, representing around 1% of all cases of this infection worldwide. Given the larynx' location in the airway, this form of tuberculosis is of particular importance because it is highly contagious. With our hospital being in a high tuberculosis burden area, we propose to characterize the clinical presentation, evolution, and laryngoscopy findings of a series of laryngeal tuberculosis cases in order to reduce misdiagnosis.

Fear and anxiety are generally assessed as responses of prey to high or low levels of threatening environments, fear-conditioned or unconditioned stimuli, or the intensity and distance between predator and prey. Depending on whether a threat is close to or distant from the individual, the individual exhibits specific behaviors, such as being quiet (freezing in animals) if the threat is distant or fleeing if the threat is close. In a seminal paper in 2007, Dean Mobbs developed an active prevention virtual reality paradigm (VRP) to study a threat's spatial imminence using finger shocks.

[Epidemiological and Demographic Characteristics of Patients with Head and Neck Tumours in the Northern Portugal: Impact on Survival].

Introduction: In Portugal there are still no epidemiological and demographic studies conducted in patients with of the head and neck tumors.
