Improving Orthopedic Documentation Using Post-Operative Note Proformas: A Quality Improvement Study.

Introduction:  Accurate medical documentation is important in the perioperative period, ensuring the safe transfer of information between teams involved in the surgical patient's care. This has been highlighted by multiple standards of care guidelines within the United Kingdom. The use of standardized pre-templated documents has displayed significant success in minimizing errors during the admission and operative stages.

Combined nail-plate constructs in the management of osteoporotic native distal femoral fractures: a systematic review of the available evidence.

Purpose: Distal femoral fractures account for 4-6% of fragility fractures. These may be managed using a combined nail-plate construct (NPC). The use of NPCs is gaining traction.

The first reported case of Atypical Femoral Fracture caused by daily ibandronate prescribed for bone metastases in breast cancer.

A 55-year-old woman with bony metastatic breast cancer was commenced on daily ibandronic acid to prevent skeletal related events (SREs). Four years later, she began to experience new lower limb and groin pain with investigations leading to the suspicion of further metastatic spread to her left femur. While awaiting radiotherapy for this, she unfortunately tripped and fell sustaining a fracture to the proximal third of her left femur.

Traumatic central cord syndrome: neurological and functional outcome at 3 years.

Study Design: Retrospective cohort analysis with prospective follow-up.
